Bio

Award-winning composer and Audio Director Paul Deakin is known for his work on Sony PlayStation's Days Gone (winner of several awards, including a Webby for Best Sound Design and Music). Most recently, he was writing the music for the new, upcoming AAA open-world game Last Sentinel, a big-budget title from Lightspeed LA. The Lightspeed LA team is a global development group filled with deep experience and expertise that includes work on AAA, leading titles like The Last of Us, Jedi: Fallen Order, Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto and God of War.

Paul's scores for film include BnB Hell (horror), with Timothy Lee DePriest (Westworld, HBO) and Carol Stanzione (Resident Evil Village, Wasteland 3, Orange is the New Black), The Devil You Know, several short films and trailers.

Paul wrote a full scale musical from 2004-2010 and after workshops in NYC, working with Broadway performers from shows such as Tarzan, In the Heights, Rent, Jekyll and Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar, the show received acclaim in the FringeNYC Festival as “one of the five MUST SEE shows” when it premiered at an Off-Broadway theater.

Accolades for his music include Baltimore Film Festival's Best Music Award for Taken (dir. Todd Shoemaker) and the 2008 nomination by Lark Play Development Center for the Weston Playhouse new musical award.

As a teenager, Paul discovered his passion for music composition when he and 3 friends started a band in high school. The band played for many years, including some gigs in England at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club. Although Paul is no longer a member, the band still writes and records today with some of the original members.

In the 1990s, Paul played drums in a country band, and has played bass and drums in the orchestra pit for musical theater productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, and Rent.
